How to care for tiles

Vinegar is an excellent cleanser. It is widely used in the household. It is a natural, non-toxic product that safely sanitizes and cleans most hard surfaces.

Vinegar can be used for mopping. Moreover, they can wash completely different coatings: laminate, tile, linoleum.

If you do not have at hand specialized means for mopping, then it can be prepared from vinegar. All you need is vinegar and water - their just mix.

Approximate ratio: 3-4 liters of warm water - half a glass of 9% vinegar (or a little less).

Not everyone likes the smell of vinegar, but don’t worry, as soon as the floor dries, the smell will evaporate. To speed up the process, you can open the window after washing the floor and ventilate the room.

Do not mix vinegar with other cleansers and bleaches.

Washing wall tiles

Most often, the walls are tiled in the kitchen, in the bathroom and toilet. In these rooms pollution easily appears, therefore hygienic cleaning of surfaces is necessary at least once a month. Do this with special fluids and gels designed for the care of tiles. Or replace household chemicals with inexpensive home remedies.

Mix one of them. 1 liter water with 0,1 ml vinegar essence (with vinegar concentration 80%) You can use 6 percent table vinegar without diluting it with water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray the solution on the wall surface. Use a soft brush or sponge to spread the cleaning mixture over the tile. Vinegar destroys bacteria and fungi. Unlike bleach, it is safe for human health and sparingly affects the tile.

! When processing tiles with vinegar solutions, be sure to use rubber gloves to protect your hands.

If you don't like the smell of vinegar, take citric acid. Dip a sponge moistened in water into a powder and rub the polluted places, including seams. It copes well with cleaning ceramic tiles and soda. Mix it with water (do not use dry), dip a sponge in the pulp and clean the tile. With a very dirty tile, rinse the soda with warm water not immediately, but after 20-30 minutes.

Remember that for cleaning ceramic tiles you can not use:

  • potent means
  • abrasive substances
  • with hard brushes
  • soap.

Remove greasy stains with a kitchen detergent for dishes. Apply it for 5 minutes and then rinse. After cleaning the wall tile, be sure to wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

How to care for tiled floors?

Wash floor tiles at least once a week using mild cleaning products. In addition, arrange large-scale cleaning twice a year. To do this, add a quarter cup of 80 percent vinegar to a bucket of hot water. Such a solution effectively removes dirt and rust stains. Dip the brush into it and with strong movements clean the dirt from the surface of the seams and the tile itself. Then wash the floors with any cleaning agent, remove any residue with water and wipe with a dry cloth. This method will help eliminate even old traces of dirt.

! The information is for guidance only. The site administration is not responsible for possible damage due to improper use of cleaning products.

Using vinegar solutions, do not leave them on the surface for a long time, so as not to damage the seams. After “general” cleaning, glossy tiles for floors and walls should be treated with water-repellent wax-based compounds. This will make it shiny, protect from dirt and facilitate subsequent care.

Vinegar and soda

Surely you already know that with the help of table vinegar and soda you can clean almost everything that is in the house. This cheap method is also an environmentally friendly cleaning method, after which the apartment will not have a harmful pungent chemical smell. The same natural chemical reaction that a chemistry teacher once showed you at school will help clean the tiles and refresh the grout.

Take baking soda and sprinkle it on the tiled floor to make a thin white layer on it. Make sure the grout joints between the tiles are also covered with soda. Then pour a little vinegar into an empty container with a spray, and sprinkle soda, allowing the vinegar to soak a little. If after this you see a chemical reaction on the floor with the release of gas bubbles, do not be alarmed - this is normal and means that the cleaning agent is working.

To clean the tile, put on rubber gloves, take a brush of medium hardness and about 3 minutes after spraying, begin to scrub the floor along with the solution that came out on it. When you see that the surface has become clean enough, wipe the dirty paste from soda and vinegar with paper towels or a dry cloth. After a few minutes, the smell of vinegar will dissolve, leaving behind a radiant tiled floor.

Soap and hydrogen peroxide

Here is another cleaning method ... Most housewives always have dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide. And from the combination of these two components, you can get an excellent cleaning product that will make any item in your apartment shine.

It is very simple to make a cleaning solution from the listed components, you just need to mix one part of the dishwashing liquid with two parts of hydrogen peroxide. Pour the resulting solution into an empty container with a spray, spray on a dirty tile and rub it with a brush. Then remove the soap mixture with a damp cloth or paper towels, make sure that there are no sticky soap traces on the tile, and voila - you have a clean and shiny surface again! In addition, this method, unlike the previous one, can be used for wall tiles.

If you have no vinegar in your home but have lemon, you can deal with contaminated places in two counts. Do not worry if vegetable oil or some coloring liquid gets into the seams between the tiles. Dampen the contaminated grout with plenty of lemon juice, then sprinkle it with baking soda and leave it for a few minutes, then clean this area with an old toothbrush. Wipe the soda with a damp cloth and get a completely clean and fresh-smelling piece of tile grout. You can use the same technique, but with vinegar, not lemon, to clean and update the entire grout in the apartment.

Can I clean the floor with vinegar?

To wash the floor with a solution of vinegar is not only possible, but also necessary! This is the best cleaning agent for flooring such as laminate, linoleum, ceramic tiles and vinyl floors. If your floors are wooden, then their surface is most often covered with protective equipment: wax, oil, varnish or paint. A solution of vinegar cleans well most of these coatings, but it can completely wash off the wax. Therefore, it is very important to know what kind of coverage your floors have. If you do not know this or are just not sure, check the action of the cleaning solution in a small hidden area of the floor. Also, stone floors (marble, granite, slate, sandstone, etc.) cannot be washed with vinegar - you can damage the surface of the stone.

Mortar and vinegar solution

To prepare a solution for mopping, dilute 1 cup of table vinegar (colorless) in 5 liters of warm water.

  • To make the floor surface shineadd a few drops of vegetable oil. Keep in mind that a thin layer of vegetable oil on the floor will gradually accumulate with each new cleaning. To remove deposits, periodically wash the floor without oil.
  • To reduce pungent vinegar odor, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, such as lemon or lavender, to the solution. Keep in mind, the unpleasant smell of vinegar will not annoy you for long - it will disappear as soon as the floor dries. In addition, it should be remembered that some essential oils can be dangerous for pets, especially cats.
  • To obtain Detergent with a more neutral acid-base balance (pH), add 1 cup of ammonia (ammonia) to the solution. Vinegar is an acid (low pH), and ammonia is an alkali (high pH). By mixing them, you can create a neutral cleaner. However, this reduces the cleaning properties of such a solution, since alkali partially neutralizes the acid. However, a pH neutral cleaner is recommended for use with certain types of wood. Be careful, ammonia is a chemically dangerous substance, so always wear gloves and ventilate the room well when handling it undiluted.
  • To better to clean the dirty floor, add a couple teaspoons of liquid soap to the solution. Keep in mind that a soap cleaner may leave ugly stains on the floor. Therefore, if you use soap in a solution, to remove its residues, wash the floor again with a solution of vinegar and water.
